This cotton hikeshi-banten (fireman jacket) is modeled after Edo era (1603-1867) fireman's uniforms. They would have been soaked in water before fighting a fire. Now they are mostly worn by fire brigade members to events, demonstrations, and festivities.

This jacket is faded black sashiko cotton with red & white stripes across the shoulders and two white stripes across the middle. It's a medium-to-heavy weight woven cotton that is soft and comfortable to wear. Can be worn open, or closed with the included fabric belt. This jacket includes two rare metal and enamel pins! The one is the fire brigade pin and the other was give to a brave/outstanding job.
