This cotton hikeshi-banten (fireman jacket) is modeled after Edo era (1603-1867) fireman's uniforms. They would have been soaked in water before fighting a fire. Now they are mostly worn by fire brigade members to events, demonstrations, and festivities.

This jacket is dark black sashiko cotton with three red stripes across the shoulders and four white stripes across the middle. It's a medium-to-heavy weight woven cotton that is soft and comfortable to wear. The graphic look is great with jeans and perfect as a Spring & Autumn jacket. Can be worn open, or closed with the included fabric belt.
